Plan a trip on public transport
Learning areas:
- English
- Maths
Year levels:
- Year 5
- Year 6
Have students develop a plan to travel to a selected destination using public transport. This could be for a school excursion or a trip from home.
Students should investigate the public transport options (in terms of routes, times and costs) and plan the journey.
They should consider if they will need to walk to get to a stop or station, and what would be the safest route to walk to get there.
Discussion questions
- What difficulties did you have in planning your trip?
- Where there several options that you could have chosen?
- Why did you choose this option?
- Were there any safety issues with walking to a stop or station? If so, how did you deal with these?
