Core resource

Kids on the Move is designed to assist primary schools to implement a core road safety education program.

Schools can download the resource from the TAC website.

To support your use of Kids on the Move, images of road signs, crossings and roads are available (in PowerPoint presentations) on the VicRoads website.

The resource also includes a DVD, A Child's World of Traffic to support parents to use everyday traffic situations to teach their children about road safety.

Enrichment resources

VicRoads has produced two new road safety education storybooks and related apps for children aged four to eight years, written by renowned Australian author Danny Katz and illustrated by MitchVane.

VicRoads Bike Ed helps children aged 9 to 13 years develop the skills they need to ride safely and independently on roads and paths. Bicycle Safety Education Instructor Training for teachers and other school support personnel is delivered at local venues throughout the state by the DEECD preferred provider.

Public Transport Adventures provides on line resources for teachers to educate students about travelling by train, tram and bus.

RACV Street Scene program is a road safety program for primary students Prep – Year 6 where trained road safety educators visit schools to deliver classroom sessions.

VicRoads Safe to School website contains information, advice and resources for schools and local councils to help them to improve children and young people's safety during school drop off and pick up times.

The Victorian Government's Stay Bus Safe Around the Bus Stop initiative aims to ensure that the 70,000 students in Victoria who use the rural bus network each day continue to travel safely.
