Overview

This unit supports students entering adolescence to develop independence in their everyday travel. Students learn how to make informed, safe and responsible travel choices when travelling to and from school, sport and social activities.

With a focus on active and sustainable transport, the unit builds confidence, promotes wellbeing and encourages lifelong habits that support personal health and environmental responsibility.

The unit includes clear learning intentions and success criteria, assessment rubrics and differentiated activities to support a range of learning needs, enabling teachers to assess progress and tailor learning for all students.

This unit of work was developed by Helen Owies at SportlinQ, with funding and support from the Department of Education, Department of Transport and Planning and the Transport Accident Commission (TAC).

Curriculum Alignment

This unit is fully aligned with Victorian Curriculum 2.0 and VTLM 2.0, with a primary focus on Health and Physical Education and meaningful links to English, Geography, Science and Mathematics. All relevant content descriptors are embedded within the individual lesson plans.
