Overview

These units of work support students to develop the practical knowledge, skills and confidence needed for safe, active, sustainable and independent travel in their everyday lives.

Through engaging, real-world learning experiences, students develop positive travel behaviours, recognise and respond to risks, and make safe decisions when travelling in their community.

The learning experiences include opportunities to investigate the relationship between road safety, forces and motion in Physics, helping students understand the scientific principles that influence safe travel.

All learning experiences are evidence-informed, curriculum-aligned, differentiated and designed to help students apply road safety concepts in their school, local community and broader transport environments.

The Protective Behaviours and Safety unit can support schools to deliver key elements of the Respectful Relationships program by helping students understand personal safety, help-seeking and protective strategies.

The Bike Ed units of work are complemented by Bike Ed Instructor Training, supporting teachers and instructors to deliver high-quality, practical road safety education that builds students' cycling skills, safety awareness and confidence.

Physics (Forces and Motion)

This Year 9/10 physics unit explores road safety by examining vehicle motion, safety technologies, and applying mathematical modelling to understand the factors that affect road use.
