Bike Ed Instructor Training accreditation is valid for four years, and is competency based. Instructors are responsible for keeping a copy of their certificate and ensuring they maintain the skills and knowledge required to deliver Bike Ed programs safely and effectively.
Bike Ed Instructor accreditation is recognised under the Department of Education's policy for Excursions: Adventure Activities (including swimming and water-based activities).
A streamlined re-accreditation process is currently being finalised and is expected to be available by late 2026. This process will apply to instructors who have completed the current one-day Bike Ed Instructor Training course and hold a current accreditation. Teachers who completed the previous two-day Bike Ed training course will need to complete the current one-day Instructor Training course to transition to the new framework.
