Yes – Bike riding is for everyone! The four units of work are differentiated and designed to include students of all learning abilities.

The Instructor training covers differentiation in detail and further support can be obtained from bikeed@transport.vic.gov.au

Yes - the Bike Ed program has been redesigned to include interactive and inclusive learning content , as well as  units of work (linked to the Victorian Curriculum 2.0), videos, and illustrations. These resources were developed with the input of current Victorian teachers. This program has been expanded to cover Years 1–8 (students aged approximately 6 to 14 years) with an emphasis on inclusivity and proving opportunities for ALL students.

The Bike Ed Instructor Training has undergone significant change and is now delivered by teachers for teachers. It covers content specific to the Victorian school context and is vital for accreditation purposes.  You will need to successfully complete the one day course (plus pre learning module) to be re-accredited.

The units of work and resources are designed for students between Years 1 to 8 (aged approximately 6 – 14). However, Bike Ed can be for students of any age and ability as all units are differentiated.

Ensure your child has plenty of time, under adult supervision, to practice the skills they are learning at school.

Spend time helping your child to develop and practice their skills. When parents/carers ride with their child and show them safe behaviours, they turn an enjoyable activity into a valuable learning opportunity and experience.

Assist in running a Bike Ed program in your child’s school.

You can become accredited by completing the Bike Ed Instructor Training and demonstrating competency in the required areas. The accreditation process is self-paced, and you can revisit and complete the training as many times as needed until you are confident and meet the required competency standards.
